Pedro Moneo is our Founder and CEO. 

Pedro is a mechanical engineer from the Polytechnic University in Madrid and a nuclear engineer from the French Nuclear Commission. 

Pedro began his career as a researcher at the Argonne National Laboratory of Illinois in the division of advanced reactors.  Following his return to Spain, he spent a number of years in the Division of Strategy and Corporate Finance at Accenture, where he participated in the development of many strategic plans and corporate transactions for technology companies and industries, including several Fortune 500 companies, in the sectors of telecommunications, equipment, air transport, railroads and highways, automotives, construction and shipyards.

Pedro has been the deputy director of the FEDIT Technology Centers of Spain, the largest network of private applied research and development in Spain, which accounts for 70 agencies and employs more than 7,000 researchers and specialists in all branches of the Spanish industry and a total turnover of more than 600 million Euros (USD 850 million).

 

Tomás Baylac is Opinno's CFO and VP of Opinno Ventures.

Tomás is an industrial engineer from the Instituto Tecnológico de Buenos Aires (ITBA). In Argentina, he was a member of the Department of Product Development from OMINT S.A., a private Argentine company, and was in charge of product-mix, budget billing, and sales and budgetary control. Previously, he worked as a cost and project analyst, completing his experience in commercial areas, cost of finance and strategy, allowing him to get an overview of companies and businesses.

He has worked part-time for over five years as assistant professor and Chair of Investment Projects in the ITBA where, in addition to lecturing, he was project supervisor and analyst, specializing in those of a technological nature. Academically, he investigated investment project processes.

In 2008 he received an International MBA from Instituto de Empresa (IE) in Madrid, where he graduated with honors.  He also formed part of the team that won the annaul business plan competition organized by IE and sponsored by Caja Madrid. In 2009, this business plan became a reality: Tomás is founding partner and shareholder Prospéritas Microfinanzas, company based in Colombia.

 

Shaherose Charania is the VP of Opinno Social and Director of our office in San Francisco.

Shaherose is passionate about open innovation in mobile and telephony startups. Recently she lead new consumer products at Ribbit (acquired by British Telecom). Previously, she was Director of Product Management at Talenthouse and before that at JAJAH (acquired by Telefonica/O2) as the Director of Product Management and Marketing. She began her career in Silicon Valley at TiE Global overseeing governance and operations of 40+ entrepreneurship centers.

In parallel, Shaherose is the CoFounder and CEO of Women 2.0, an organization for woman-led startups in Silicon Valley. She has led its growth to include tens of thousands of participants, hosting monthly educational and networking workshops engaging entrepreneurs and investors from top Venture Capital firms and Angel circles. She has seen over 300 early stage startups through Women 2.0 and is experienced in building solutions to support the entrepreneurial ecosystem.

Shaherose holds a B.A. in Business Admin from The University of Western Ontario’s Richard Ivey School of Business and completed an international exchange program at ESADE in Barcelona, Spain. 

 

Bruno Ott is the VP of Opinno Incubation and Managing Director of Opinno in Spain.

Bruno is a mechanical engineer from ICAI and received his MBA from the Instituto de Empresa.

Previously Bruno was the General Director of Real Estate Group with a presence in Spain, Portugal, the United States and England. Bruno’s duties included holding positions on the councils of the companies that comprised the real estate group and supervising all areas of group purchasing, sales, administration, finance, legal issues, etc.

He has extensive experience in managing national and international projects. He has assembled a sales network with offices in London, Amsterdam, Dublin, Madrid and Murcia selling over 1,500 units in two years.

Bruno has been an advisor for Hoteles H10, Prasa, and Sanostra y Globalia among others. Since 2005, he has also been the owner of multiple hairdressing and beauty salons of the Marco Aldany franchise.

In recent years, he has obtained bank financing for international projects such as the purchase of a 5 star hotel in the Dominican Republic, a building in SoHo in New York and solar arrays in Portugal.

During his earlier career as a Senior Strategy Consultant at Accenture, he was involved in multiple strategic plans, marketing plans and sales and reorganizations for companies like Coca Cola, IZAR, PSA, BMW and Globalia. In the latter he served as Head of Staff of the Presidency for a year, reporting directly to the Hidalgo family.

María Fraile is the head of our Boston office.

María is currently a second-year MBA candidate at MIT Sloan School of Management with a concentration in entrepreneurship and innovation. María is the Director of New Initiatives for the Venture Capital & Private Equity Club at Sloan, where she organizes lectures and discussions with successful entrepreneurs and partners of venture capital funds who provide a critical view of the industry. In addition, María is a member of the marketing team for the MIT $100K business plan competition. Thanks to her work in the promotion and dissemination of the competition, she helped increase the number of team with innovative ideas that enriched the competition.

María has extensive experience in customer relationship management and service for sophisticated investors. María has developed an extensive career in international investment banks such as Morgan Stanley and UBS. She worked for 6 years as an investment adviser to private clients in Spain, identifying customer needs and developing investment portfolios suited to their financial goals. She has also worked as a business consultant in Brussels.
