EmTech Spain
EmTech is the Massachusetts Institute of Technology’s (MIT) emerging technology conference, a point of reference in the innovative technology sphere. MIT, through its Technology Review magazine, has been holding EmTech in Cambridge (Massachusetts) for over a decade. In 2011, Opinno, as publisher of the Spanish edition of Technology Review, held the conference in Europe (Malaga, Spain- Oct. 26 and 27).
EmTech Spain is one-of-a-kind event. It’s the place where scientists and innovators that work in technology development that can change the future in the next 10 years. This occurs by meeting with business people, entrepreneurs and investors interested in talking with them and with the ability to bring ideas to fruition. It’s an environment that transforms ideas into solutions which solve the world’s needs as they transform it at the same time. It’s a space to meet the most innovative people and businesses in the world.
EmTech Spain assembles more than 20 experts who present technologies capable of changing our daily lives in the near future. In the 2011 edition, more than 20 national and international experts spoke before an audience of 600 about the future of intelligent cities, the Internet, videogames, nanotechnology, biotechnology, the mass media and robotics.
Additionally during the conference, the TR35 Spain awards were presented to those that MIT, through the Spanish version of Technology Review, recognizes as the 10 most relevant Spanish innovators under 35 with the most promising projects in their respective fields.
In EmTech Spain, the Investment Forum organized by MIT Enterprise Forum was also held. For an hour and a half, the backers of cutting-edge projects had the opportunity to meet with a select group on capital risk investors who are specialized in clean technologies, nanotechnology and information and communication technologies.
Opinno and Technology Review en español have planned an expansion of EmTech into Latin America including Colombia and other countries for 2012.
