IBM SmartCamp
Opinno collaborated with IBM for the first Spanish edition of SmartCamp, a world-wide competition for entrepreneurs that selects the best solutions for a smart planet.
SmartCamp is a part of IBM’s Global Entrepreneur program whose goal is to help recently-created businesses and individual entrepreneurs to bring their projects and business ideas to light.
The goal is to help the new generation of entrepreneurs to take advantage of the opportunities in growing sectors such as energy, health, telecommunications, consumer goods or public administration. Their ideas revolve around how to improve the way in which we work and live, how to better use energy resources, how to manage health systems and how to improve city traffic and vehicles. All these are fundamental to making a smarter planet.
The companies that participate in SmartCamp must meet the following prerequisites: be a private company, be less than five years old, have earned $12 million in the past 12 months and have developed a solution aligned with the principle objectives of IBM’s Smart Planet strategy.
Opinno collaborated with IBM in the selection of businesses for the first edition which was held in Barcelona on June 14, 2011. Pedro Moneo, founder and CEO of Opinno, participated in the management and mentoring of the companies which participated in the program.
