Opinno CleanTech Week
Opinno organizes CleanTech Week, a business trip that allows cleantech-oriented businesses to experience Silicon Valley, one of the most important technology spaces in the world.
Opinno collaborated with FEDIT (the Federation of Spanish Technology Centers) and ICEX (The Spanish Institute for Foreign Trade) to select the 15 businesses and technology centers that participated in 2010.
All the participants had an exclusive booth in the CleanTech Open National Expo, the largest exposition in the world for start-ups dedicated to green technologies. The goals are to find, finance and develop the biggest ideas that can solve the most urgent environmental and economic energy challenges the world is currently facing.
A panel of international judges selected, among the 15 participating businesses, five finalists with great potential. Among those stood out In.Tec.Dolo with its Hidromach, a patented product that produces potable water in dry areas. As the winner of the contest, In.Tec.Dolo represented Spain as a finalist during the annual CleanTech awards, which were held on Nov. 17, 2010.
Activities
Opinno worked with the participants before the trip to prepare their presentations before investors, clients and partners. This preparation is key in order for the businesses to maximize the visibility of their products and manage the meetings that had been organized with partners and investors during the week.
In addition, Opinno organized a week long schedule of diverse activities for each business. The Spanish participants met with California Energy Commission in Sacramento, where they spoke about topics such as renewable energy, green buildings, energy efficiency and California’s water challenges. The participants also participate in a networking event at Opinno’s offices in San Francisco and at a conference organized by REAL (Renewable Energies America Latino) at the Haas School of the University of California, Berkley. In addition, they attended a meeting held by the City of San Francisco’s Office of Economic and Workforce Development and a breakfast with lawyers that provided useful suggestions and advice on how to start a business in Silicon Valley, tax law and incorporation in the US and California, among other topics.
Participating in CleanTech Week is a great opportunity to be a part of one of the fastest-growing industries in the world.
