Venture Exchange Boston: 7 days at MIT
I’m back from Boston and want to take the opportunity of being above 0ºC/32ºF for the first time in 8 days to write a few lines about our experience. It is always refreshing to spend some time at the MIT. The way fresh ideas circulate around the Campus is contagious.
The objective of this visit was to connect some of the most prominent applied research centers from Spain with their scientific counterparts at MIT. We had visitors from Barcelona Media, ITENE, ASCAMM and IREC (research centers in the areas of multi-media, packaging/logistics, transportation/materials and energy in that order) who were accompanied by the CEO and the Network Development Manager of Fedit (the Spanish Network of private R&D Centers we usually collaborate with).
The main event around which we organized our visit was the European Career Fair, which is a great event that briings together for a weekend many of the available candidates from MIT and the neighboring universities who are looking for permanent or transitory job opportunities in Europe.
Most of our guests had quite a busy week with back-to-back interviews with candidates and meetings with research departments from MIT such as the Electrical Vehicle Group, the Smart Cities Research Group at the MIT Media Lab and some independent companies like Innocentive.
As a result of the visit, several of the visiting centers will have for the first time full time employees coming from MIT and hopefully will also be able to strenghthen their relationship with some of the cutting-edge technology groups we visited.
No doubt we’ll be there again next year!
